CAGD outlines the steps required to link Ghana Cards to Payroll Database

The office of the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) has detailed the steps required for linking Ghana Card to the IPPD.

In a letter dated 15th January 2024 addressed to Heads of MDAs/ MMDAs, CAGD has directed all GoG staff to submit their NIA( Ghana Card) numbers to their respective HRs for integration with the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Database (IPPD) system.

Government Employees without a National ID must visit the nearest NIA office to get one before the 4th of March 2024. Additionally, those with their NIA numbers should submit them to their HR heads before 4th March.

HRMs will have until 20th March to capture National ID numbers of government employees onto the IPPD.

These new directives come after the successful linking of the NIA database with the GOG National Payroll Database.

Earlier this month the government launched a fully automated system linking the national payroll with the Ghana Card database, making the use of the Ghana Card mandatory for recruits, re-verification of existing employees, and pensioners on the government’s payroll system.

Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who launched the system, emphasized that the new system leverages digitalization to fight corruption, exposing discrepancies quickly through an interoperable ecosystem.
