Alcohol may reduce stress in the short term but in the long term, it increases your stress,

It ages your skin by dehydrating you. Once your system falls short on water, your skin also begins to dehydrate which makes you look 48 years old when in fact you may just be 26 years old.

The negative effects of alcohol are not limited to your skin and look only. Alcohol also ages your brain and is harmful to your gut especially those who take it on an empty stomach.

Soda ages your skin because it has a lot of sugar in it and no fibre. And what this does is spike your glucose levels. An increase in blood sugar level is directly linked to inflammation in your organs which is one of the factors of appearing older looking.

This kind of inflammation is most visible in your face and skin in general. You may be thinking that diet soda is a less dangerous alternative but I am sorry to say that it is even worse for you.

Diet soda contains artificial sweeteners that can cause irritation to the gut. Regular soda is high in sugar from high fructose corn syrup, which can lead to weight gain

3. Coffee:

This is one of the hardest to give up because it has become part of our daily lives and I am not even judging. Why is coffee damaging to the skin? Coffee is rich in caffeine and caffeine is classified as diuretic medicine.

This class of medicine is used to reduce fluid buildup in the body. Coffee when taken in huge quantities plays a similar role in the body by causing dehydration.

It will be hard to give up coffee completely and I am not suggesting you do due to the benefits to your brain and body however you should make it a point to drink plenty of water if you include coffee in your lifestyle.

4. Energy Drinks:

This is the mother of all drinks that will cause your skin to dehydrate and hence age faster, This is because energy drinks contain high amounts of sugars or caffeine or both.

Dehydrated skin tends to look dull, and tired, and can accentuate fine lines and wrinkles.

The high sugar content in many energy drinks can contribute to glycation. Glycation occurs when sugars in your bloodstream attach to proteins, forming harmful molecules called advanced glycation end products (AGEs).

AGEs can damage collagen and elastin, proteins crucial for maintaining skin elasticity. When these proteins are compromised, wrinkles and sagging become more prominent.
