The current vice president and flagbearer for the NPP announced plans for Ghanaians to access credit and purchase cars using the Ghana Card and the ongoing digitalization of the economy.
The presidential aspirant who claims would choose a Ghana card over 1000 interchanges stated that the Ghana card will be “the anchor for a credit system in Ghana”

He was Speaking at the 57th Congregation of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) when he made these claims.
According to Bawumia, the Ghana Card would be the sole requirement for transactions, enabling individuals to acquire cars and pay over time.
These comments made by the vice president sparked a huge debate and according to some sects of Ghanaians, it was unrealistic because of the numerous failed initiatives championed by Bawumia.
Prof Kobby Mensah, a senior lecturer at the University of Ghana weighed in on the ongoing debate as to whether the claims of the veep was realistic or just a gimmick to score political points.
