Alhassan Suhuyini has alleged that Vice President Mahamudu and Samira Bawumia, seeking to become the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana, promised to represent Muslims but failed to fulfil them.
According to Suhuyini, Bawumia used his Muslim identity to gain the position of Vice President but remained silent on important issues affecting Muslims, such as the wearing of the hijab and the cost of Hajj.

During an interview on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on June 20, the Member of Parliament claimed that the Bawumia family was involved in presenting themselves in a favourable light, and accused the Second Lady of conveniently emphasizing her Muslim identity when it comes to campaigning.
Alhassan Suhuyini’s comments :
“Repackaging, look at how they do it so nicely, in fact I was watching Samira Bawumia on the platform… with her veil…. This is her dressing during campaigns, packaging and repackaging, and then she slays.
“After that, she slays… you know what slay means, you see her pictures all over. She is the true definition of a Muslim wife during campaign and then she becomes a slay queen afterwards. She posts those pictures, she takes them and posts them,” he stressed.

“I am saying that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has not been that representative of the Muslim community that he promised to be when he was campaigning to be vice president,” Suhuyini posited.
