“Do something about import duties”- Wendy Shay to Nana Addo after paying outrageous duty on car.

Ghanaian songstress Wendy Shay has made an appeal to the president to do something about the duties on imported cars.

The Uber driver hitmaker revealed that she had to pay twice the amount she spent on a car she bought in the US to import it to Ghana. She bought the car for $35,000 and paid $30,000 on duty. That is about 3 billion old Ghana Cedis.

The Rufftown signee stressed that the amounts taken at the port were too much. Wendy Shay expressed her grievances on Twitter and tagged the president’s official account.

She posted ““Your excellency @NAkufoAddo Mr president, I know you have the welfare of Ghanaians at heart but can you please do something about import duties, especially on cars? The import duties on cars are way Outrageous. You buy a car in the US for $35,000 (397,707.10 Cedis) and pay $30,000 USD (340,891.80 Cedis) as duty. Please do something Mr. President”

It wouldn’t be the first time citizens have lamented over the duties put on importing a car from overseas. That is an inevitable ordeal for anyone who plans to buy a car overseas.

Import duties are at an all-time high compared to some years ago. Hopefully, the president will listen as it’s coming from the Queen of Ghana Music.
